Betsy Farris
Name: Betsy Farris, Texas Support Team
Role in BWC: Texas Rep, Dirt Devil
Bike: Salsa Colossal, Surly Karate Monkey, etc.
Favorite biking memory: What was supposed to be a 95-mile, all downhill recovery day before a huge climb into Telluride, ended up being the craziest headwind I've ever experienced and the longest day of biking I have ever done. Mary and I, with heavily-loaded bikes, struggled to hit even 7 mph and that is going downhill. It was getting dark and we thought we had 5-10 miles left. A van full of climbers gave us some road beers and informed us we were still 20 miles out and have one or two more big climbs. The rest was a painful, pitch black and somewhat terrifying trudge into Montrose. With nearly perfect weather the next day, the beautiful (still painful) climb into Telluride was ever more rewarding. We laughed, cried and sang our way into town.
Its a sunny Saturday in Colorado, what are you doing? Assuming I'm in town visiting, probably eating mini-gummy bears or another mid-ride snack with the fine folks that always house me (thanks Mary Taylor!) followed by patio lounging at a brewery.
Favorite post ride meal: whatever is being served at Ras-ka if I'm in Fort Collins or shrimp tacos from The Cove if I am in San Antonio.
You have a plane ticket to anywhere in the world. Where are you going? FORT COLLINS! Ok maybe Madagascar or Japan.
Pick your poison- beer, wine, liquor or other: Beer or cookies
When you grow up you want to be: some sort of professional nap-taker/cookie-eater with unlimited vacation time
Goal for 2015: Dirt Dirt Dirt! More gravel and figure out what this single-speed mountain biking business is all about. Also repping some Black Widow Cycling swag, visiting all my homies in Fort Collins and crafting an epic Tour de Fat costume couldn't hurt!
